WILLEM C. VIS INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION MOOT IN VIENNA
Law Firm LINKLaw lawyer Kaisa Üksik participated as an arbitrator in the 23rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot that took place on 18 – 24 March in Vienna.
Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is an international moot court competition for law students across the world. During the competition students test their skills and knowledge by defending both the claimant’s and respondent’s case on the substantive and procedural matters. During the competition teams are to draft a written memorandum, one as a representative of the claimant and one as the representative of the respondent. This is followed by the preparations for the oral presentations which culminate in Vienna. Each year nearly 300 teams from various universities and colleges around the world (e.g. Harvard University, King’s College London, Humbol-Universität, etc.) take part from the competition.
Kaisa participated in the moot as an arbitrator for a third time. Previously Kaisa has also been coaching the team of the law faculty of the University of Tartu. She herself participated in the competition during the 19th moot in 2011/2012 when the team was awarded an honourable mention for their written respondent memorandum. This year the law faculty of the University of Tartu was represented Henri Ratnik, Evelin Prunt, Inga Järvekülg and Triin Dampf.
